Our three isle tour is a great way to see some of the best that Scotland's west coast has to offer all in one day, but if you're hoping to stay longer, here are some of the best of the west that the whole family can enjoy this summer.
Ranger Puffin Day - Wednesday 15th July
All year round tourists flock to the islands for a chance to see the puffins up close. If you’re touring with us on our three isle tour on the 15th of July you can get some expert knowledge on puffins when we stop off on the Isle of Staffa. The local wildlife ranger, who takes care of the puffin population throughout the year, will be on Staffa from 10am until 5pm to answer any questions you might have about the island’s puffin colony.
Mull Highland Games - Thursday 23rd July
If you go to just one Highland games this summer make it the Mull Highland Games. A Highland games is the ideal Scottish showcase, and what better way to experience one than in the picturesque surroundings of Mull. Like with games across the country, there’s a huge amount of entertainement packed into the Mull games. There are the ever-popular strong men events (the caber toss, hammer throw and the tug o’ war); the pipe bands and Highland dancers highlighting the best of traditional Scottish culture.
There are also a range of stalls with local produce and great food and drink to keep the family fed and watered throughout. There are lots of ways to get to Mull just for the games, and our Tobermory Topper and Discovery Day Pass start at as little as £10.
Bunessan Show - Friday 7th August
Bunessan is the largest village on the Ross of Mull, the largest peninsula of Mull that makes up the southwestern part of the island. This area of the island boasts a superb coastline and is home to white sandy beaches, rocky coves and dramatic cliffs.
The Bunessan show is an annual agricultural and cultural show in the village at the local primary school/ showground. At the show you can find farmers showcasing livestock, a local produce tent, a beer tent, refreshments and various other stalls making it a great family day out. To round off the day’s events there is also an evening dance at Bunessan Community Centre at 9pm.
Faerie Stories - Wednesday 12th August
Faerie Stories is a puppet theatre production created by Ewan Macintyre, Ross McKay, Symon Macintyre and Reem Behzad, most notable for their work with Scottish children's theatre companies, Puppet-Lab , Tortoise in a Nutshell, Vision Mechanics and band The Southern Tenant Folk Union.
Recommended for kids aged 6 to 11, Faerie Stories is an original production taking inspiration from the traditional myths and folklore that help make up Scotland's rich cultural heritage. The show is a unique fusion of Scots' Gaelic and traditional arts, alongside live soundscapes and classic rock culture.
